Glasgow's Merchant City - heyday and decline:

At the core of Glasgow is an area now known as the Merchant City after the 18th 'Tobacco Lords' who traded with America. When the rich moved out and the markets moved elsewhere, the area fell into disrepair. Today, the Merchant City is successfully reinventing itself. We talk to various people about the area. Ewan Curtis works for the Merchant City Initiative, who assist with sourcing funding to regenerate the buildings in the area for the public good. Gordon Matheson is councillor for the area.
