Help children understand safety!
We all have concerns about Internet safety. GridClub promotes Internet safety in the Cybercafé. Children who go to Cybercafé will find a range of activities to explain the correct use of email and social netwroking sites, the appropriate behaviour in a chat room, appropriate web browsing and text messaging and more. This site was developed by the government ICT agency BECTA, CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre) and GridClub.
Play the Cybercafé game.
GridClub recommends...
Here are a few websites that we think give you some of the best parental guidence on Internet safety and cyberbullying:
Thinkuknow - The official Home Office advisory website for young people, including guidance for parents.
Kidsmart - guidence for both you and your children on many different Internet safety issues.
Childline - practical advice and more useful links.
Internet Safety Awards!
In 2004, GridClub won an ISPA (Internet Service Providers Association) award for its contribution to Internet safety. Peter Robbins, Chief Executive at the Internet Watch Foundation said:
"It is an impressive site and it is evident that considerable creativity and thought has gone into the design of an engaging, interactive portal for children and young people. Particularly, the advice on safety is provided in the context of concrete situations rather than as an abstract list of rules."
