Hindu Funeral
|
Funerals on the island of Bali, in Indonesia, are festivals which involve everyone in the village. The islanders follow the Hindu religion and they burn, or cremate, the dead. The villagers build a tower made of bamboo. They also make a large model of a black or white bull or a red lion. After a grand procession, the body is placed in the model on the tower and set on fire. The ashes are later scattered in a river or the sea. Hindus believe the soul never dies and that people are reborn to live a new life. | | A Hindu funeral in Bali |
