What are the alternatives to petrol and diesel engines in cars?
An alternative to relying on petrol and diesel engines is to use electric motors. The motors are easy to make, but a major problem with them is their electricity supply. One solution is to use batteries, but these are heavy and an electric car cannot be used while its batteries are being recharged. An alternative power source is a solar panel, but this only works well when there is plenty of sunshine!
Some electric cars are 'composites': They use batteries in town and a petrol engine out of town.
