What was life like in the Egyptian army?
Rameses II was ruler of Egypt from 1290 BC to 1224 BC. This picture shows his army. The chariot horses were tethered and one chariot is being repaired. A band of foot soldiers is being trained. The soldiers are carrying spears and axes with bronze heads, and bows made from two antelope horns tied together. Egyptian soldiers also fought with scimitars, which were curved swords.
