What does extinction mean?
Extinction occurs when the last individual of a plant or animal species dies out. In the past, many creatures such as dinosaurs died out naturally perhaps because of changes in the climate. In the last few centuries, animals such as the dodo and the thylacine have been hunted to extinction by people.
