What is a Persian cat?
A Persian is the best-known breed of long-haired cat. It was first bred in Europe in the 1800s by crossing cats imported from Persia (now Iran) and from Angora in Turkey. The breed has a long, silky coat and a broad head. A Persian cat's legs are short, but the body is broad and robust. Persians come in several different colours.
