What is a habitat?
A habitat is a place where plants and animals live together as a community. Most creatures only live in one type of habitat, and cannot survive elsewhere. Look at the different habitats seen in the picture of an ocean. Most life is found near the surface. A few species of fish and squid live in deeper water. The seabed is the realm of specially adapted marine creatures that cannot survive elsewhere in the ocean.
