How do we measure wind speed?
The speed of the wind is measured on the Beaufort Scale. This goes from 0 (calm) to 12 (hurricane). The scale describes how things behave at different wind speeds. At 1, light air, smoke drifts slowly. At Force 6, large trees sway, and at Force 10, buildings may be damaged.
