Which fish are caught by deep-sea fishermen?
Most fish are caught by modern fishing boats. Nearly 80 million tonnes of fish are caught every year. The main fish caught near the seabed are cod, flounder, hake, and pollack. These are often caught in funnel-shaped trawl nets. Fish enter through the net's wide mouth and collect at the narrow tail end. The fish must be preserved quickly or else they will spoil. Most deep-sea fishermen pack their catch in ice, or deep-freeze it, before sailing home.
