What is the water cycle?
Water is always on the move, changing from liquid to vapour and back to liquid. The heat of the Sun evaporates water from the oceans, lakes, and rivers. Plants also release moisture from their leaves. The moisture rises into the air and cools to form clouds. Winds blow the clouds towards the land. Here the clouds grow cooler, especially over high ground, and it starts to rain. The rain drains into rivers and lakes and then back into the sea.
