What is Abu Simbel?
Abu Simbel is a place in Egypt where the Egyptian king, Rameses II, built two temples in about 1250 BC. They were cut into blocks and rebuilt on higher ground in the 1960s when the rising waters of Lake Nasser threatened to cover them.
